Natural Areas

Bernie McDonell Park is a 5.22 acre passive Township park located in Lancaster Heights. The park features a pond with two small islands, a footbridge and a picnic area.

This park is owned by the Raisin Region Conservation Authority and features a public beach (unsupervised) and picnic area, as well as camping lots.

This provincially significant wetland, located off County Road 2 west of Lancaster, is part of the larger (650 acre) Charlottenburgh Marsh. The Cooper Marsh is linked to the St. Lawrence Recreational Path and features a modern Visitors Centre, boardwalks, 7 km of trails, a viewing tower and a picnic/BBQ area with a shelter.

This full service campground is operated by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission and features 182 camp sites, a public beach, boat launch and picnic/BBQ area. Located east of Lancaster on South Service Road.

Located on an island south of Lancaster, this National Historic Site is no longer open to the public.

Operated by the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, Gray's Creek is a 106 acre natural site featuring a 110 slip marina on the St. Lawrence River as well as 5 km of groomed trails, picnic/BBQ area with a shelter, volleyball court and public washrooms.

This Township owned park is located behind the library in Lancaster.

The St. Lawrence Recreational Path is one of South Glengarry's most popular outdoor spaces. The path begins in Lancaster and stretches west over 75 km, along or near the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River, ending at Morrisburg. Within the boundaries of South Glengarry (between Lancaster and Gray's Creek Conservation Area) the St. Lawrence Recreational Path is a 21 km "designated" paved shoulder along County Road 2. West of Gray's Creek through Cornwall and beyond, it is a paved, multi-use path than runs along the shore of the St. Lawrence.

Located 1 km north of Highway 401 in Summerstown, access to the Summerstown Trails is free at all times. With various programs and activities offered by the Friends of Summerstown Trails (FOTST), the trails provide year-round activity for South Glengarry residents and visitors for all ages.  

Currently, there are approximately 20 km of groomed cross-country ski trails (classic and skating) and 12 km of snowshoe trails for winter use, with 9 km of snowshoe trails groomed for fat biking. Trails range from beginner to intermediate.

Trail maps are made available at the parking lot during the winter season with rental of equipment available on weekends, weather and trail conditions permitting. This includes: XC ski packages (skis, boots, & poles), snowshoes and fat bikes, available in both adult and kid sizes. The trails are also used in summer for walking, hiking, and biking.

This is a multipurpose trail that extends from the eastern to the western border of the Township.

This is a passive park located on County Road 34 north of Lancaster. This former MTO rest stop has been upgraded by the Township and is used as a roadside stop by travellers.

The Wharf is located on the corner of Pine Street in South Lancaster and is one of few locations with public access to the waterfront.

The Township of South Glengarry has over 45 km of waterfront trail for cycling that is a part of the Great Waterfront Trail network.

This is a small parkette along 3^rd Line Road and is owned by the Ministry of Transportation. On the south edge of Bainsville, it features picnic tables and commemorative trees.
